Here is the background, I will be sending my car back to Kuching. So the only way is to transport my car from Penang to KL, Port Klang then ship to Kuching by vessel. My forwarding agent told me that it's either I drive my car to KL or they will ask somebody to pick up the car from me & drive to KL. Cost me RM200. So 2 reasons I wanna do it my own. 1. I get to take care of my car rather than any unknow people driving at highway. 2. Since I am out of job, I got my sweet time to do my small experiment.
The budget is RM200. I think I can spend just only RM135 everything included my bus ticket back to Penang. With additioanl RM63 (or could be more) to be spend on something else.... like buying new pair of shoes. hehe.
1. Fuel tank top up to maximum at early morning hour.
- It is understood the vaporation rate in the morning low temperature is slowest. So when I am filling up RM60/tank. I will get abit extra which will allow me to travel further.
2. Switch off air conditional. Allow only natural air ventilation from dashboard.
- If the aircon is on, the fuel consumption will be higher. If the window is down, it introduces drag at high speed. So the only option is to allow ventilation through the aircon fan with switching on the cooling system.
3. Tyres pressure at optimum
- Low pressure tyres introduce drag.
4. Use toll at off peak hours (10% to 20% discount)
- Entering KL between 12am to 7am will have 20% discount which only applies from 28 to 30 Dec 2009.
5. Minimum cargo carriage
- Weight = high fuel consumption
6. Driving at consistent speed 80 - 90 km/hr at engine rpm 1.8k
- My car works the sweet spot at this range. 4th gear.
7. 1 stop at highway.
- The more the engine starts & stops, more fuel will be used.
8. Pray no raining, traffic jam & wrong route
Wish me all the best with my little experiment.
Depart : 29 Dec 2009 12am
ETA KL : 29 Dec 2009 6:30am
By to Penang by 30 Dec 2009 train or bus. I will just keep the relax options open.
