The Art of Walk In n’ Out of Car Showroom Part 1

The good thing about a new car launch is there are bunch of rodents going for first taste & disappear. Well, you can consider me as serious buyers. Reason is I really look like one. I walked in, looking at the car, approach by the sales man, pickup the first conversation.

First Impression always good now matter what. Otherwise the sales man would not give a damp about you. The next thing is ask a very few questions of the lineup available. Engine capacity, features, colors & you name it.. , I done my homework, I will ask the sales man they will be surprised I am really into their car.

Checking out the engine, ask the sales man if they don’t mind to start the engine and listen. In fact, I am not so good with engine, look from, back, top & bottom. Haha.. the sales man must be fooled this time.

The next thing is the interior, go to the drivers seat first. Adjust the seat to the maximum in every directions & measure with your finger from your head to the roof. If the sales man gives you a funny look, tell them it’s much better than Ford Focus Ghia. For the rest, as long as all the buttons & switches are reachable, then it would be good enough. Of course, those buttons commonly used. Signals, wipers, front lamp, audios, power windows, locking switch, air conditioner, transmission, handbrakes & finally don’t forget ‘Start’ engine switch. This helps you to go in a hurry or chase after by ‘Along.

Checking the passenger’s seat & space, navigator seat can be optional, but rear passenger seats is a must, check out the space when the driver’s seat is fully backward. Now this has been the trick for Toyota & Proton sales men used to move the up the front seats to give illusion for space.

Next, if you don’t go through this, you are absolutely a coward for car showroom. Test Drive : Most sales men knew test drive tells the drivers seriousness. To me, I have no idea about you, since you get hair half wet, then might as well wash them. Whichever they want a Name Card, Fill in Forms & etc. Just do so. If they ever ask for Identification Card, say ‘No’. Know your own limit. But before filling in your cell phone number, ask them if there will be any rubbish SMSs or given to another third parties for business opportunities.

The last part is making the loan arrangement. Ask about the interest rates, insurance included NCB entitled for yourself. Yes for yourself. Just throw in a figure. 55% if you have no idea. As for the yearly road tax and finally the amount of installment. You can always ask for few options like 10% or 20% of the down payment as well as number of years loan. Either 7 or 9 years. Put yourself in serious though and reply him that you need more time or ask for a contact.

The last trick you want to get out quick after the test drive, ask your partner to show a sour face. I am sure the sales man would dare to make you any call anymore. Ha ha.
